Chat Function

When enabled the Chat function allows players to send and read messages from all the other players.  The Chat window is a simple list of the most recent messages and includes a send message area at the bottom.  To join a chat, a player must select either the 'Join' function as shown below in an example leaderboard page or use the menu bar option.

The 'Join Chat' page requires entry of the chat PIN and either:

* The entry of a unique chat player name

or

* Selection of the player from the displayed grid.

If the tournament is setup as an 'Individual' event, then the player grid will be displayed.  If the tournament is setup as a 'Team' event, then the player will need to enter their unique chat name (which is typically their first and last name) as individual players are not identified for team events (like a Scramble).  Here's an example of the 'Join Chat' page for an individual event:

Once a player has joined the chat group, his leaderboard page will now include a Chat Bar which can be expanded or collapsed.  Here's the collapsed view:

Here's the expanded view.  Note that the input area for new messages is at the bottom.

Chat Q&A

Q - What should I do if I mistakenly selected someone else instead of myself in the player grid?

A - Click on the menu icon at the top right and select 'Join Player Chat' and then select the correct grid player.

Q - Since this is a team event I entered a chat name but it appears someone else is using the same name?

A - The chat feature cannot differentiate between players with the same chat name.  Click on the menu icon at the top right and select 'Join Player Chat' and enter a name that is unique.

Q - Why don't I see chats from earlier in the day?

A - We try to limit the number of messages in the scrolling chat window to improve performance.

Q - How long are chat messages saved for?

A - Chat messages will be deleted a few days after an event is over.  We do NOT retain a copy of the deleted chats.
