Importing Teams or Players

You can import players (or teams) from the Tournament page.  In order to import you must first create a CSV (comma separated value) file on your laptop and then select it from the Tournament Page.  Once selected click the "Import" button and the selected file will be uploaded, validated, and imported.

Stroke-play and Points events

The import file for stroke-play and points events has some specific requirements.  Typically you would use Excel (or any other program that can export to CSV format) to create the CSV file.  The following are required:

·            The first row of the file must have column labels.

·            There must be a column labeled "Name" which contains either a team name or player name in whatever format you want displayed on the leaderboard.  Valid Player or Team name examples are:

                    Joe Johnson

                    Johnson, Joe

                    Joe

                    Team 1

                    Bulldogs

                    Johnson/Smith/Peters/Long

                    1A - Cola Corp

                    1B - IBX Corp

In addition to the 'Name' column you can optionally include any of the following columns which MUST be labeled as shown:

·            Flight - A one to three character code designating the flight for the named player (or named team)

·            Handicap - A numeric between -9.0 and 60.0

·            Handicap Index - A number between 0.0 and 60.0

·            Starting Hole - A numeric between 1 and 18. You CANNOT use character add-ons (like 1A, 1B, etc).

·            Team Number - A numeric between 1 and 200.

·            Email - The associated score keeper email address(es).  For multiple emails separate them by a comma (i.e. 'd@jones.com,b@jones.com')

·            Player ID - A unique number or identifier for this player that will be included on exported scorecards.

·            Best Ball Flight - A one to three character code designating the Best Ball Team flight.  Note that if used, the Best Ball Flight must be the same for all the players on a Best Ball Team.

·            Tee Time - A time value formatted in HH:MMxm format (i.e. 10:15am)

·            Sort Code - A one to twenty character alphanumeric.  This field will be sorted in alpha order so if ONLY numerics are used they should be zero filled to have the same number of digits (i.e. 01, 05, 15, 55, etc).

·            Points Adjustment - A number between -999.9 and +999.9

·            Strokes Adjustment - A whole number between -999 and +999

Once you have imported the file and checked the data, you must save the results by clicking the 'Save' button at the bottom of the page! Columns that have labels other than the ones shown above, are ignored.

Below are some examples of spreadsheet files that can be saved in CSV format and then imported into Scrolf.  This first example only has a single column (labeled 'Name').

This next example includes all of the available columns that can be imported.  There is no requirement concerning the order of the columns.

This example includes only the 'Name', 'Handicap', and 'Starting Hole' columns.
